Promenade Moved Indoors
Posted on: April 25, 2026
Parents, Guardians, Students, and Guests of the MCHS Prom,
According to current weather forecasts, there is a very good chance of inclement weather and much cooler temperatures today during the walking promenade. A decision has been made to move the promenade indoors.
Students, guests, families, and spectators shall follow the guidelines below to accommodate an indoor promenade.
Students:
- The vehicle promenade will still be held at the same time, 5:00-6:00 PM.
- The promenade in the auditorium will begin at 6:00 PM.
- The promenade will not follow the typical route in front of the building to the entrance in the C wing.
- Instead, students will exit their vehicles in the student parking lot and enter the building through the large set of double doors into the auditorium.
- Students will promenade across the stage in front of a closed curtain and then move into the commons.
- The prom itself will be held from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
- The after prom sponsored by Communities That Care and various organizations in the community will begin at 10:30 PM at the Burnham YMCA.
Spectators:
- Spectator parking is not permitted in the Student Lot. Spectators may park in the teacher lot (6th Street side), the Chapman Stadium Lot, the Marcal Paper Lot, and in the lots surrounding MCJH.
- No guests will be permitted to enter the building to take pictures in the commons.
- Family members and community members will enter the auditorium through the doors in the D wing (in between the front and back of the building by way of the concrete concourse)
- No one from the public will be permitted to enter the commons. Event staff will monitor the exits in the back of the auditorium and at the double set of doors to the commons from the D Wing Hallway.
- Auxiliary staff can utilize the golf cart to assist spectators with mobility problems.
- Once inside the auditorium, restroom use will be restricted to the facilities in the D wing.
Event staff, advisors, administrators, chaperones, and law enforcement will be in place to ensure that the public does not have access to the building beyond the auditorium.
While the event may take a different course due to the weather, we are sure that your students will have a night in which they will make memories and enjoy time with their classmates and peers.
Respectfully,
Kelly T. Campagna
