MUSIC DEPARTMENT
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
2710 Concert Band (Grades 9-12) Three days
per cycle. .5 Credit
In this course, all styles of
Concert Band music are studied and
publicly performed with emphasis on
form and style, as it is related to
classic and modern wind band
literature. Basic musical
proficiency, to a greater or lesser
degree, is attained by each member
through group lessons, sectionals,
and full ensemble rehearsals.
According to our basic music
philosophy, all members, from the
average to the most advanced, will
share in all educational and
performance experiences which shall
include, but not be limited to public
performances at the winter concert,
spring concert, commencement
exercises, adjudicated festivals,
community functions, and school
assemblies throughout the year.
2610 Concert Choir (Grades 9-12) Three days
per cycle. .5 Credit
The Concert Choir is available to
any student who expresses the desire
and certain level of musical ability
to create vocal music. Special
emphasis is stressed upon each
section to be able to sing
independently of the other voices,
and to insure proper balance
throughout the entire choir.
According to our basic music
philosophy, an attitude has been
developed which insures the most
average singer a chance to share
educational, as well as performance
oriented choral experiences.
