LEWISTOWN - America’s craziest and most unpredictable sport, “Donkey
Basketball,” will be featured at Lewistown Area High School on Tuesday,
April 14. The game, which tips off at 7 p.m., will be preceded by a
special exhibition basketball contest at 6 p.m.
Shaw Brothers will bring their combination of circus
atmosphere and rodeo thrills to town for the benefit of the Lewistown Lady
Panther basketball team’s summer trip to the University of North Carolina.
Lewistown will once again create its own version of the Civil
War, as Lewistown Middle School faculty and students will face their
counterparts from Strodes Mills Middle School. Strodes Mills leads the
annual series, started in 2007, by a 2-0 margin. The first meeting was
decided in sudden death overtime, and last year’s game came down to the
final seconds as well.
The special basketball exhibition at 6 p.m. will feature 5th
and 6th grade girls from the Lewistown and Indian Valley attendance
areas.
There will be plenty of laughs for the entire family during
the fun-filled evening. You haven’t witnessed basketball until you have
seen it on donkeys!
Tickets, priced at $5, are available at the main offices of
LMS and SMMS, or from Lady Panther basketball players. Tickets will be
available on game night for $6. A concession stand will be in operation
for the event.
