What you should know about H1N1
98% of all influenza A at this time
is H1N1
It is the secondary infections that
lead to hospitalization, not the initial illness
If your child says he/she is not
feeling well or is coughing, complaining of headache, sore throat, or
stomach ache CHECK HIS/HER TEMPERATURE, don't wait.
If your child has a fever, he/she is
contagious. KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME.
If your child has a fever of 100.0
or higher, KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME.
Students must be fever free for
24 hours without fever reducing medication, before returning
to school.
The CDC recommends you seek medical
treatment if your initial illness is over and your fever/cough returns or if
everyone else who was sick at the same time is feeling better and you are
not, OR if you fall into a high risk category such as pregnant, heart
disease, diabetes, take daily aspirin therapy, organ transplant.
