The Mifflin County School Board gave the initial approval to begin planning the new high
school on November 17, 2005. |

The new high school will be built on property owned by the School District above the current
high school and above the new track and athletic field.

On December 7, 2005, plans were formed to purchase some additional property northwest of the
site and northeast of the site. |

On
December 21, 2005, a
project team kick-off
meeting was held
involving members of the
Administration team,
representatives from
Hayes Large Architects,
and Reynolds
Construction.

On
January 5, 2006, a
meeting was held with
a team of faculty members
from the current IVHS
staff to lay plans for
educational
specifications and
prepare room schedules.

Visitations to other new
high schools in the state
began on January 9, 2006
and other visitations
followed.

The
School Board reviewed
room schedules,
educational
specifications, and
topographic surveys on
February 23, 2006.

On July
5, 2006, a second
Preliminary Meeting was
held with Mifflin County
Planning Staff and Derry
Township.

September
11, 2006, Geotechnical
Investigations began. |

Public Hearing was held
on January 11, 2007. |

Bids for construction
were reviewed on
September 6, 2007. |

The
building will be
constructed to house
1150 students,
grades 9-12, with an
approximate cost of
$62-64 million dollars.

The bids
for the project were
awarded on July 24, 2008

Department of Education
has approved the project
to proceed.

Plans

IVMS to move to the
current IVHS when the new

This move supports the
campus approach which the
school district believes

for student enrollment

The projected final completion in all areas is anticipated to be
December 22, 2010. |

Building pads are being graded and rolled in preparation for
foundation work. |

July 31, 2009 update
The new Indian Valley High School has been under
construction for approximately forty three (43) weeks sine the Notice to
Proceed was issued on August 25, 2008. the projected substantial
completion is anticipated as December 22, 2010.

Phase 1 - Area B |
All slab on deck placement is complete and the
slab on grade is scheduled for the 2nd week of
July. The high roof areas are decked in and we anticipate roofing
to start in the next month. Fireproofing of steal is scheduled with
Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical rough-ins to follow. the exterior
masonry wall will also follow fireproofing.

Phase 2 - Area A |
The structural steel erection is complete
including decking floors. The roof deck is currently being installed and
slab on deck pours are scheduled for the 3rd week of July. Underground
plumbing is continuing with anticipation for placing slab on grade the
last week of July.

Phase 3 - Area E |
The remainder of the pad was excavated. the
layout, excavation and placing of footings will be complete the 2nd week
of July followed by the foundation walls.

Phase 4 - Area D |
The excavation and placement of footings have
started in the auditorium and kitchen areas which will be followed by
foundations and masonry bearing walls.

Phase 5 - Area C |
The remaining of the building pad is being
excavated which will be followed by the installation of the footings.

Side Work
|
Grading has started for the installation of the
reinforced soil slopes at the track. Cedar Street is being prepared to
receive paving by the end of July.
The Geothermal Well drilling is complete and the
horizontal underground piping is proceeding.
The soil nail is complete with the exception of
the final finish coat. This is scheduled to start prior to the end of
the month. December 18th 2009 The new
Indian Valley High School has been under contstruction for approx. sixty-six weeks since
the Notice to Proceed was issued on August 25, 2008. The projected substantial completion is anticipated as December 22, 2010.
Phase 1 Area B
Work in Area B includes continueing of MEP rough-ins
thoughout. The mason is preparing interior wall to receive block
fill(paint). The masons also are installing the brick on the exterior.
Area B is currently temporarily enclosed and heated.
Phase 2 Area A
The roofing in Area A is complete. Work continues with MEP rough-ins in
the Penthouse. Drywall partitions are being installed as required to
install as required to install mechanical ductwork and piping. Area A is
temporarily enclosed and heated, which allows work to proceed during the
winter months and helps in drying out the building.
Phase 3 Area E
Work in Area E continues with MEP rough-ins and mechanical equipment
tie-ins. Area E also is temporarily enclosed with temporary heat.
Phase 4 Area D
Bearing masonry walls have been installed to allow steel and decking
installation. Slab on deck for the second florri is scheduled for the
next couple weeks. Second Floor masonry bearing walls will then continue
to roof bearing. Structural steel roof is scheduled for late January.
Phase 5 Area C
The interior masonry bearing walls continue as weather allows. No other
work is proceeding in this area at this time.
January 22, 2010
The new Indian Valley High school has been under
construction for approximately seventy-one (71) weeks since the Notice
to Proceed was issued on August 25, 2008. The projected substantial
completion is anticipated as December 22, 2010.
Phase 1 –
Area B
The brick and windows are installed on the north side
of Area ‘B’, and the masons continue with brick on the east and south
sides of Area ‘B’. The masons have set up a tent enclosure to heat the
areas that will allow brick installation to continue. Painting has also
started along with drywall soffits. The mechanical, plumbing and
electrical rough-ins continue on the 3rd floor and penthouse
area.
Phase 2 –
Area A
Temporary heat is being provided in Area ‘A’, which is
being prepared to receive paint. The masons are rubbing down walls and
completing interior masonry walls on the upper floor. The MEP trades
continue to rough-in with the mason as the walls to up. Mechanical
equipment is being set in the penthouse areas.
Phase 3 –
Area E
Area ‘E’ continues with rough-ins and is ready to
receive finishes. Temporary heat is also currently being provided in
this area.
Phase 4 –
Area D
Masonry bearing walls are being installed to receive
the structural steel for the roof. The steel erection for the roof
should be installed within the next month.
Phase 5 –
Area C
The masonry bearing walls continue in this area as
weather allows. With nice weather in the forecast, it is anticipated we
can make up some time in this area.
