HIGHLAND PARK PHYSICAL FITNESS AWARDS 2007
At Highland Park Elementary the students can earn either a National Physical Fitness Award or a Presidential Physical Fitness Award by attempting to meet established standards for 5 exercises: 90 degree push-ups; Bent knee curl-ups; V-sit and reach' Shuttle run; and the Half-mile run. The Presidential Physical Fitness Council has established standards for each exercise. Both these awards are very difficult to achieve with the Presidential award being the most demanding of the two. Earning either of these awards requires these students to show commitment, dedication, and the desire to continually improve their strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. Students who earn a Presidential Physical Fitness Award will receive a white certificate with a blue patch designating the number of years he/she has successfully met the Council's standards and students who warn a National Physical Fitness Award will receive a beige certificate. Both these certificates are signed by the present President of the United States.
