1st Grade Computer Classes Create PowerPoint Stories

After hearing a few of the stories from the series “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”, the 1st grade authors at HPAE , with the help from their classroom teacher and Mrs. Knode , created their very own stories using the same format. After the stories were written, they then brought them to Mrs. Moon’s computer lab where they turned them into slide shows using Microsoft PowerPoint. After typing the stories, the students then changed the color, font and size of the words. They also added clipart pictures, transitions to their slides, and animations to both the words and the pictures. After the stories were completed, the 1st graders were given an opportunity to invite their parents back to school for a special evening where they were able to “show off” their creations. The parents, as well as their teachers, were absolutely amazed at what these 1st graders had done.
