AMAZING World of Light

Watching as light is directed to various locations on the ceiling

Highland Park Area Elementary School students were dazzled by the "AMAZING World of Light" in a school assembly and workshops provided by the HPAE Home and School Association today, January 16, 2008.

Students volunteered to participate in a variety of learning activities about like in the 45 minute assembly, as well as respond to questions. One of the highlights of the group presentation was the single beam laser show. The children learned that a laser beam should NEVER be directed into someone's eyes, and also that when many single beams are connected together at a VERY fast speed, you can write and draw images.

notice how the beam stops. (Photographers luck?)

Workshop

Following the assembly,  a series of small-group workshops were presented in the school library until the end of the school day. Small groups of students were rotated from station to station to view holograms, laser light graphics being created, ,what is reflection and refraction and additional hands-on experiences.

Thank you Home and School for bringing this program to our school.
