Exploring Life in Colonial America**
The students in Mrs. Kauffman's 5th Grade recently completed a unit** on Colonial America. Each student was given a
packet containing various activities the student could use to explore life in the 13
Colonies. Projects were on display in the school lobby and student showcase.

Students researched the types of house built in a particular colonial area. They
selected a style and made a model of a house. |

| Students could choose to make two paper doll cutouts show the style of clothing
a colonial boy and girl might have worn. Three more house models, noticeably different
from the models in the first picture. |

Students researched the colonial classes and charted the advantages and disadvantages
of belonging to each class. |

| Students researched various trades and the skills needed to perform those jobs. Here,
they imagined they were craftsmen and are advertising their skills. |
