Professional Partner
of the Month: Jean
Runge |
 Jean Runge, a guidance
counselor at
Lewistown Middle
School, has been
selected as
"Professional Partner
of the Month" by
The Second Mile.
The following

Jean Runge has
worked the past seven
years as a counselor
in several Mifflin
County elementary
schools, and this
year begins a new
challenge as a
counselor at
Lewistown Middle
School in the same
district. If you ask
the educators with
whom she works to
describe Jean and her
style, they’ll tell
you she’s an open
person, easily
accessible, and very
positive. Further,
she is acutely aware
of available local
resources, and works
tirelessly to connect
children and families
to these resources.
The word “dedicated”
is one that often
comes up. Jean
herself shares that
she is creating and
implementing a
positive, school-wide
behavior support
program, so we might
also add the words
“innovative” and
“progressive.” For
her outstanding work,

IVHS Choir
Selected to Perform
at State Conference |
 The Indian Valley Senior
High Choir has been
chosen to perform at
the Pennsylvania
Music Educators
Association State
Conference in April
of 2008. Over 150
auditions submissions
were heard and a
small number of
performing ensembles,
from various genres
of music, were chosen
to perform during
this three day
conference.

for September 2007

The IVMS True Warrior
Award is a student
recognition program
that acknowledges
students for good
effort, attitude and
ethics (True Warriors
don't have to be
straight A students
but are students that
try hard, are well
behaved and pleasant
to have in class.)

Brown Elementary
Teacher Selected as
"Teacher of the Week" |
 Mr. Forest Fisher, a
4th Grade Teacher at
Brown Elementary
School, has been
selected as by Star
Country Radio's
"Teacher of the
Week". Malarie Yoder
submitted a letter to
Star Country about
her favorite teacher
(Mr. Fisher), how he
has impacted her life
and why she believes
Mr. Fisher is

Freedom Walk 2007 |
 The Indian Valley High School
Social Studies Club members
organized the first Mifflin
County "Freedom Walk". On
September 9, 2007, over 200
students and community members
joined together not only thank
the people who make Mifflin
County safe, but to also show
ongoing support and gratitude for
the sacrifices they make everyday
while completing this mission.
