ACHIEVEMENTS

worthy individuals and groups within the Mifflin County School
District. |

IVHS Educator Receives
"2007 Outstanding Service
Award" |
|
|
Richard D. Penepacker was
presented with the "TEAP
Outstanding Service Award" at
the conclusion of the The
55th Annual TEAP Conference.
Mr. Penepacker is a
technology education
instructor at Indian Valley
High School. Visual
communications and drafting
are among the courses he
teaches at IVHS.
This award is presented to
a member of TEAP who has
maintained a continuous
membership for at least three
years prior to their
nomination for this
recognition. In addition,
they must also be involved in
technology education as a
classroom teacher,
supervisor, administrator, or
teacher educator. Potential
recipients must be perceived
by their peers and colleagues
as performing daily duties in
an excellent or superior
manner and have demonstrated
consistent professional
interest and leadership
during the previous three
years. Finally, the recipient
must have been involved in
special activities and made
significant contributions to
technology education within
the past year.
It is with great
confidence that the
Technology Education
Association presented Richard
Penepacker with this award.
Mr. Penepacker has been a
dedicated member of the TEAP
board over the past 9 years,
serving as the Regional Vice
President for Region 3C which
includes Summerset, Cambria,
Bedford, and Blair Counties
in Intermediate Unit 8 as
well as Juniata, Mifflin,
Huntingdon and Fulton
Counties in Intermediate Unit
11 all in South Central
Pennsylvania. In 2002, he was
recognized as an Outstanding
Regional Vice President by
the association for the work
he has done in Region 3C. He
has continued to serve his
region well, and recently
stepped down as Regional Vice
President, passing the torch
onto Tanner Huffman. Mr.
Penepacker also serves his
students at Indian Valley
High School as a PIAA Track &
Field Official as well as
advising the high school TSA
chapter. In addition to
serving as a TSA advisor, he
is also a member of the TSA
Board of Directors.

HPAE 1st Grade Teacher
Selected as Teacher of the
Week |

Mrs.
Melissa Howard, a 1st grade
teacher at Highland
Elementary School, was
selected by Star Country 96.7
as "Teacher of the Week".
Mrs. Howard received a
surprise visit January 11,
2008, and was presented
with a certificate and gift
pack. Mrs. Howard was
nominated by Regan Wagner. To

Former IVHS Student
Receives Prestigious Award at
U. of Arizona |
|
|
Each year, for the past
thirty years, the Department
of Chemistry at the
University of Arizona selects
one outstanding graduate
student to receive the Marvel
Fellowship Circle of
Excellence Award. Cliff
Stains, an IVHS graduate, was
selected to receive the
prestigious award for 2007.

IVMS True Warriors Selected
for December |
|

The IVMS
True Warrior Award is a
student recognition program
that acknowledges students
for good effort, attitude and
ethics (True Warriors don't
have to be straight A
students but are students
that try hard, are well
behaved and pleasant to have
in class.) The top two vote
getters/team will be awarded.
