The Pennsylvania
Association for
Communications and
Technology (PAECT) held
their annual Student
Technology Showcase in
the East Rotunda of the
PA State Capitol on
Monday, May 21, 2007.
More than 260 students
and advisors from 31
school districts
participated.
Pennsylvania Secretary of
Education, Dr. Gerald L.
Zahorchak, welcomed the
students and gave the
opening remarks. Governor
Edward Rendell attended
the showcase and spent a
great deal of time
visiting with students
and viewing their
projects. |
Third Grade students from
Buchanan Elementary
School shared the
informational PowerPoint
projects that they
created about famous
inventors, body systems
and nutrition. The
following students
attended: Ryan Paladino,
Kahlyl Carrington, Dylan
Pandel, Daisy Swartz,
Rachel Glenny, Koty
Bowes, Jaelin Benner,
Keith Geise, Damian
Heltman-Gray, Abigael
Knepp, Mackenzie Roush
and Joselyn Walters.
Their teachers are Bonnie
Whisler and Debra
McMullen. |
Both
Representative Adam
Harris and Senator Jake
Corman viewed their
projects and Senator
Corman invited the
students into his office
and arranged a tour for
them that included the
House of Representatives,
Senate, Supreme Court and
the main Rotunda.

Pennsylvania High School
Computer Fair |

The Pennsylvania High
School Computer Fair was
held on Tuesday, May 22,
at Dickinson College in
Carlisle. Over 500
students, advisors,
teachers and parents
attended the event.
Students who won first
place in the Regional
Computer Fair at the TIU
Intermediate Unit were
invited to compete. The
Mifflin County School
District was represented
by the following Indian
Valley High School
students and their
advisors:
