was represented at the
Pennsylvania High School Computer
Fair by the following Indian
Valley High School students and
their advisors:

After hearing a
few of the stories from the
series “If You Give a Mouse a
Cookie”, the 1st grade authors at
HPAE and SMES, with the help from
their classroom teacher and Mrs.
Knode (HPAE), created their very
own stories using the same
format. After the stories were
written, they then brought them
to Mrs. Moon’s computer lab where
they turned them into slide shows
using Microsoft PowerPoint. After
typing the stories, the students
then changed the color, font and
size of the words. They also
added clipart pictures,
transitions to their slides, and
animations to both the words and
the pictures. After the stories
were completed, the 1st graders
were given an opportunity to
invite their parents back to
school for a special evening
where they were able to “show
off” their creations. The
parents, as well as their
teachers, were absolutely amazed
at what these 1st graders had
done.
The Indian
Valley/Lewistown FPS Senior team
came in first place at the
Pennsylvania Future Problem
Solving State Affiliate Bowl,
held at the Radisson Penn Harris
Hotel & Convention Center, Camp
Hill, PA on April 20 and 21,
2007. They will go on to
represent the State of
Pennsylvania at the International
Future Problem Solving
Competition at Colorado State
University in Fort Collins,
Colorado May 31- June 2, 2007.

The
PMEA District IV Songfest was
held Friday April 13th at Penns
Valley High School. Over 200
students from about 30 elementary
schools Participated in the
Friday evening concert. Students
from Armagh and Brown Elementary
School selected to participate in
the Songfest are:
Anne Williams, Blayke
Narehood, Bryant
Rager, Jenn Zook, and
Amy Macchiaverna all
sign with their
respective colleges.

Stock Market Game
(SMG) teams from seven area
school districts were represented
in a Recognition Luncheon,
sponsored by Omega Bank, on May
10, 2007.
