The fifth graders did a
lab on insect identification as an introduction to integrated pest
management. They first had to identify an insect and then determine
if it was beneficial or harmful. The students then calculated and
compared the ratio of beneficial insects and harmful insects. A
discussion followed on what steps a farmer would take in regard to
pest management.
