[MCSD]   [Schools]   [East Derry]

East Derry has 3 full-time student teachers this semester. Let's meet them.

Hi!  My name is Jaynie Dillon (or Carrie Jayne Booher-Dillon officially) and I am a student teacher from Penn State.  I am teaching in kindergarten with Mrs. Keefer until December and then I will graduate.  I am very excited about teaching kindergarten and look forward to getting to know the new students!

I am a graduate of the Mifflin County School District, having graduated from Chief Logan High School.  I have two stepchildren and two biological children.  My oldest daughter is a recent graduate of Bucknell University, and the other three children attend Lewistown High School and Highland Park Elementary.  My family adopted a new puppy this summer.  Max is a Yorkie, and started out very well behaved but has become a crazy little puppy as he has become more comfortable in our home.  In my free time I love to read, bake and attend my children’s events.

I know that this is going to be a great couple of months.  I am excited to meet the new students this year and help them start on their great journey of learning.  Finally, I want to thank everyone for all the warm welcomes into East Derry Elementary School.

Hi! My name is Lindsay Gerhart and I am a student teacher from Penn State. I’ll be student teaching in Mrs. Ames’ fifth-grade class until December. After completing this semester I will be graduating from PSU and heading out to search for a teaching job of my own! During my time at Penn State I’ve learned a lot about myself as a person, but more so as a future teacher. I volunteered through Shaver’s Creek to be a counselor at Outdoor School for the past three years. It was one of the things that really made me want to teach upper elementary and last year I was fortunate enough to go with Mrs. Ames’ fifth-grade class!

I am a huge Penn State and Philadelphia sports fan. I was born and raised in a small town outside of Reading, Pennsylvania. I love to read (especially on the beach), go camping, be outside and do math! Math is my favorite subject and I love teaching it to children! Overall, I’m looking forward to a very positive time here at East Derry and I want to thank you all for the warm welcome.

Hi!  My name is Meredith Conboy and I am a student teacher from Penn State.  I am teaching fifth grade with Mrs. Goss until December and I am extremely excited to be at East Derry full time.  I previously completed my pre-service teaching with Mrs. Goss last spring, and anticipate an enjoyable and pleasant semester.

I was born and raised in Newtown Square, PA.  It is a small town located twenty minutes east of Philadelphia in Delaware County.   I have one brother who just graduated high school and is now attending Penn State.  Over the summer I lived down the New Jersey shore where I worked as a waitress.  During the summer I also enjoy attending as many Phillies games as possible!  Following the Phillies may very well be my favorite hobby.  I also enjoy playing sports.  In high school, I was the captain of both the golf and basketball teams.  My other hobbies include reading the newspaper, baking, and watching movies.

I can’t express how happy I am to be here at East Derry Elementary!  I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning from others to further my career.  Lastly, I would like to thank everyone for welcoming me with open arms.
