Title of Planned Instruction:   Instrumental Music

Subject Area:   Arts and Humanities            Grade Level:   Grades 4 and 5
Prerequisites: None

Course Description: The instrumental music program involves teaching students to read music, interpret notation, including melodic accuracy, rhythmic accuracy, articulation, dynamics, phrasing, maintaining a steady beat, and playing in a group or band setting. Other skills involved are proper tone production, correct intonation, and interpretation of the appropriate style in a variety of musical settings.

Required Time: One or Two Years             Course Credit:  None
