Description:
The K-3 visual arts program includes a variety of media and hands-on activities to give students sequential experience in 2- and 3-dimensional art. Through these lessons, students develop fine motor skills, problem-solving skills, critical and analytical thinking skills and a basic appreciation of art (famous artists and student work). Lessons are based upon principles and elements of design. |

Description:
The grade 4-5 visual arts program builds upon skills learned in K-3. Through a variety of media and hands-on activities, students develop higher level skills (shading, perspective, color mixing, proportions, art terminology, art appreciation). Description:
The sixth grade visual art program involves a variety of 2- and 3-dimensional hands on art experiences. The art program teaches students concepts, elements, and principles of art that are the building blocks for not only works of art themselves, but necessary in making aesthetic decisions that are part of everyday life. The course also familiarizes students with career opportunities, works of other artists, appreciation and styles and movements of art. Students also experience art as a means of personal expression and individualism. The sixth grade program expands on concepts and principles that are sequentially developed through the K-5 program.
The seventh grade program develops higher level skills, concepts, and principles through longer term units, preparing students for higher level art instruction and aesthetic choices in all aspects of their daily lives. |

Description:
This is an introduction and exposure to various types of painting and drawing techniques and art media. This course will provide beginning studio experiences in, but not limited to, portraits, still lifes, landscapes, and computer-generated art work. This will be a brief introduction to artists and movements of important historical impact.
Survey of Design and Survey of Drawing and Painting are offered to meet the needs of the following:
students wishing to improve knowledge and skills in a specific art area.
