A web project is a collaborative project done by
groups of students from many areas. Students use the resources of the web
to complete the activity and share the results with others. There are many
ongoing projects on the web. Some are long term, lasting several
months or a whole school year. Others are shorter, with more immediate
responses and publications. Some involve American schools while many have
a more global focus.
A Web Quest is an inquiry based activity that
guides students through a group of assigned tasks leading them to a
conclusion. The information the students need to complete the tasks comes
from the resources of the Internet. Good Web Quests encourage
students to understand, problem-solve and draw conclusions from the
information gathered. Web Quests can be short term, taking two or three
class periods to complete. Longer ones can take up to a month to complete.
Many include a method of presenting or posting to the web for evaluation
and feed back form real people.
