Computer Classes for Staff

The following computer training sessions have been set up for this year. Sessions are offered at centrally located schools and are open to all  teachers and staff at every school. Participants will receive Act 48 credits. There will be additional classes offered during the second semester of school.

Teachers are reminded that if they sign up for a session, they are committed to attending that session. The instructors have taken the time to prepare for the session and they get reimbursed only if the required amount of teachers attend the session. If you cannot attend, please notify the instructor as soon as possible as they may need to cancel the session.

Using Graphics in Microsoft Word 2007 1 session 1.5 hours

This session will cover working with pictures, clip art, shapes, Smart Art and Charts. You will learn how to use the new features of Word 2007 to make your pictures and clip art stand out, group shapes and clip art, use the drawing canvas, add text to graphics and create customizable relational diagrams (Smart Art) that enhance and organize your publication.

Creating and Using Tables in Word 1 session 1.5 hours
Tables are easier than ever to use in Word2007 and the new features included on the Table Design Tab allow you to format and customize your table with colors and predefined styles or design your own.

Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007
This class will provide a closer look at all of the new features of Word. The Home, Insert, Page Layout and View Tab will be covered in depth. You will create a document that you can use in your classroom and you will be able to teach your students to create documents.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2007 2 sessions 2 hours each
Excel 2007 is much improved and easy to use. You can practically do everything you need to from the Home tab. You will learn to create spreadsheets for student data or grades, to create graphs and charts and use a spreadsheet for a word merge.

     PhotoStory                                                                                                          
Microsoft Photo Story is a free application that allows users to create a show and tell presentation from their digital photos. Users are able to add narration, effects, transitions and background music to create a professional looking Windows Media Video movie file with pan and zoom effects. Once a photo story has been made it can be played on Windows Media Player or burned to a DVD or CD. Teachers will learn how to use the program and create their own PhotoStory. Make sure you have some digital pictures available.

      Fast Stone Image Viewer and Photo Resizer                                                    FastStone Photo Resizer is an image converter / resizer that easily and quickly converts, resizes, renames, rotates, crops and changes the color of large groups of pictures. Use these image programs to easily resze or enhance a group of pictures.

 Intro to Storytelling Alice
Storytelling Alice is a programming environment designed to motivate a broad spectrum of middle school students to learn to program computers through creating short 3D animated movies and games. Working with a partner, participants in these sessions will learn some basic functions and skills by following specific “step-by-step” written instructions.
