Principal's Desk
June 2007
Mr. Michael H. LaMarca, Principal

I would like to thank parents for their cooperation throughout the entire school year. Your support in your child’s education is essential. I will return next year with the same goals:

      1. Promote and Help Develop Academic Success.
2. Encourage each child to be a Responsible person with Character.
3. Motivate students to show  Compassion and Concern for Others.
4. Ensure a Safe and Secure atmosphere for student learning.

Our dedicated teachers are continuing their training throughout the summer and the school year to help better prepare students for a promising future. A positive relationship between teachers, students and parents is key. Working together goals can be reached.

I appreciate your cooperation in following Buchanan’s safety procedures when visiting the school and picking up your child.

Please park outside the posted areas, so buses can safely load and unload students.

The playground and school grounds are also posted: “No Dogs”.

Did you know?

Children who are overweight by age 11 are likely to be overweight or obese as adults. To help prevent obesity in your youngsters, encourage healthy eating and lots of physical activity now. Your best bets: help them eat a balanced diet, stay away from soda and junk food, and get an hour of exercise a day.

The following Bulldog Basics will remain in place for next year:

      1 .Be Polite and Respectful
2. Walk Quietly in the Hallways
3. Follow Directions the First Time
4. Enjoy Lunchtime and Recess Safely
5. Complete all Classwork
and Homework

Summer Fun and Exercising the Mind!

Help your child maintain the progress they have made during the school year by encouraging them to read. The Mifflin County Library is offering a summer program. Check it out!

Practicing with math flash cards can reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts.Kids sometimes like making up their own games. This not only helps develop their creativity, it can motivate them to learn.

I wish everyone a safe and happy summer vacation. I look forward to next school year and working with you and your children.
