Fourth Grade News
From Mrs. Pyle and Mrs. Reyes
During this year, we have been studying Pennsylvania History as well
as Mifflin County History. On March 13, we visited the
Pennsylvania State Museum in Harrisburg. We spent the day
exploring the museum and visually seeing some of the many things we
have studied. We saw a Native American village with the longhouses and
wigwams. We observed the Dino lab where a scientist was cleaning
fossils that had been discovered. We traveled through Mammal
Hall, observing the mammals of PA in their natural habitat setting.
We stood beside the Conestoga Wagon, built here in PA many years ago
and wondered just how we would fit all of our belongings into this
wagon if traveling west like the early pioneers did. We also
took in a planetarium show and viewed “Astronaut” and discovered the
many facets of their preparation and experiences in space. A special
thanks to the Buchanan Home and School for giving us the opportunity
to view the Planetarium Show.
Our next trip will be on March 27 when we will visit the State
Capitol and learn about our state government and the making of our
laws.
On our walking field trip, we will walk through Lewistown, exploring
many of the lessons we have learned about in our Mifflin County
History.
