Back-to-school Information Night
This year we are trying something a bit
different to start our school year. On Monday, September 10, from
6:00-7:00 p.m., we are having a get-together for our teachers and
parents to talk and ask questions. Teachers will explain what they will be
doing this year and what expectations they have for students. Parents are
free to ask pertinent questions. There will also be a time for parents to
ask the principal questions that teachers may not be able to answer. I
welcome the opportunity to clarify anything that is not explained to your
satisfaction in the Parent Handbook.
An agenda will be sent home right before
the meeting. Attendance at this meeting will determine if there is enough
interest to have an Open House in the spring Also, we are planning to have
babysitting available for anyone who must bring children to the meeting.
They will not be allowed in the classrooms that evening.

Building Access -
Reminder
As a reminder, most of you know that our secretary’s hours are
from 7:45-3:15. That means that there is no one to take your calls
after that time. I am not always at Armagh, and teachers are working in
their rooms. Also, the doors are locked, so it is not feasible to return to
the building once the students have left. I have asked teachers to remind
students to make sure they have all the homework they need when they leave
the building, because there is no guarantee that they will have access to
the building after 3:15. As always, we strive to keep your children safe and
sound. Please note that you will not have access to the building unless you
have stopped at the office first and stated your purpose to the secretary.

Sneakers with Rollers
The district has taken the position that
these sneakers will not be permitted to be worn during the school day and at
school events held inside our schools. The primary concerns are the safety
issues and potential damage to our floors.

Bus Question
Some
of you may have stopped or continue to stop for Bus 174 that picks up a
student at the base of Sigler Hill on South Main Street. J & D Busing has
asked me to inform you that you may pass that bus if it has yellow flashers
on. Some of us were afraid to pass it on the first day of school because we
know we have to stop for school buses.
The following is
the message I received from J & D to pass along to you:
When
a school bus is parked along the curb with the 4-way flashers on loading a
wheel chair, traffic may pass the school bus with caution. An example of
this is bus 174 that loads at the corner of Sigler Street and South Main
Street in Milroy. If the yellow school bus lights are on, traffic must slow
down. If the red school bus lights are on, ALL TRAFFIC MUST STOP.

Welcome Back
We are all looking forward to a great school year, and we want to
work with you to provide a supportive team for your child. If, during this
year you have concerns, please do not hesitate to call our office.
