Playground, Classroom, and Bus Behavior
Recently, we have had several incidents of rough, violent behavior among
some of our older students. Individual situations have been dealt with
appropriately, but the mindset accompanying these disagreements has me
concerned. Anything of a violent nature that takes place from now on will
precipitate a call to our school resource officer, Rob Haines. He will come
and determine whether or not charges will be brought. Please impress upon
your children the necessity of getting along and being reasonable in a
civilized society. We will have a 0 tolerance policy for fighting of
any kind.
National Children’s Dental Health Month
Each February, the American Dental Association sponsors National
Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of
oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular
dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth
and gums. The ADA recommends the following for good oral hygiene:
-
Brush your teeth twice a day
with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste.
-
Clean between teeth daily
with floss or an interdental cleaner.
-
Eat a balanced diet and limit
between-meal snacks.
-
Visit your dentist regularly
for professional cleanings and oral exams.

Armagh
Kid of
Character
Each week Armagh students are recognized by teachers for showing
qualities of good character. In keeping with the Mifflin County School
District’s focus on character education, teachers look for students who
show:
honesty, compassion, respect, initiative, loyalty, responsibility,
perseverance, courage, optimism, trustworthiness, adaptability, and
contemplation.
When students are “caught being good” they are given a “Kid of
Character” sheet which is taken to the office and placed in a box for our
weekly drawing. Two students are chosen from the primary grades and two
from the intermediate grades. Fifth graders Lucy Crawford and Jared Soles
oversee the weekly drawings and make the announcement over the public
address system. Students are summoned to the office to receive a prize. We
are thankful to the Armagh Home and School Association for supplying our
“Kids of Character” buttons and prizes. Please encourage your child to wear
his/her “Kid of Character” button each Friday.
