Agricultural Education
Farm Tour
All third grade students in the Mifflin County School District
participated in the 2007 Agricultural Education Farm Tour on September
18, 2007. The tour provided a hands-on opportunity for the students to
experience the concepts of food origins and production presented in the
classroom as part of the curriculum content standards for science. |
 |
The tour took place at two locations.
Sam and Carol Hostetler Farm and the and
Robert
and Lisa Peachey Dairy Farm. Both
sites are located in the Reedsville
area. Various schools started at each
location in the morning and exchanged
places after lunch.
The Mifflin County Farm Bureau sponsored the event and provided tour
guides and speakers at each of the stations. Students were divided into
groups for each 13 minute session. It was a very busy and educational day
for the children.
